We are pleased to assist your child through each stage of their development.
Many parents wonder why it’s important to care for their children’s baby teeth (or primary teeth) when they will eventually be replaced by adult teeth. Beyond teaching children good dental habits for life, teeth are essential for speaking and eating. Children with bad or missing teeth may struggle to speak confidently or eat the food they need to grow. Moreover, poor dental health is a leading cause of school absences—consider how difficult it is to concentrate or get quality sleep with a toothache!
When Should A Child First See A Dentist
The American Dental Association advises that you take your child for their first dental exam within six months of their first tooth appearing. Although this might seem early, it’s never too soon to begin fostering a positive relationship with a dentist! Additionally, children who have a good relationship with their dentist are more likely to behave well during visits and develop good dental habits, which can prevent costly dental work in the future.
Procedure Overview
- During those early appointments, we can demonstrate how to care for your child’s teeth and discuss factors that support dental health, such as fluoride and diet choices. As your child grows, their appointments will begin to resemble your regular visits, including cleanings and cavity checks. Regular visits also enable us to monitor your child’s dental needs and develop a personalized dental plan as they mature.
